Today’s etsy giveaway is from one of our amazing neighbors and friends. She is a super women who can do it all and do it well and she is an avid reader! Every time we go over to her house she has a huge stack of library books! Welcome SweetMellyJane… Hi! I am Melanie (a.k.a. Melly Jane by my hubby of 10 years). I am a stay-at-home mother of four youngsters; two girls, two boys. My mother taught me to sew and I am passionate about crochet. I love learning to make new things. I teach piano and I also enjoy teaching cooking and other home skills classes on a community level. I love hot fudge sundaes and Crunchy Cheetos, but not together.

My personal motto (at least for now):
“In the end, I am the only one who can give my children a happy mother who loves life” (by J.W. Baasgard). My family always comes first.

They are in need of thick warm clothing as many don’t have water to wash. Daniel writes…”I got the idea while reading Eclipse for the second time
when Seth and Riley are fighting wouldn’t the wolfpack’s sixth sense notify Jacob of what was going on? No way he’d leave Bella alone if he knew she was being attacked. “

Shadow Hills Review and Giveaway

“Shadow Hills” by Anastasia Hopcus
to be published July 13th 2010 by Egmont USA
details Hardcover, 400 pages
isbn 1606840835
4.5 Stars

Synopsis from Goodreads: ” Since her sister’s mysterious death, Persephone “Phe” Archer has been plagued by a series of disturbing dreams. Determined to find out what happened to her sister, Phe enrolls at Devenish Prep in Shadow Hills, Massachusetts—the subject of her sister’s final diary entry.

After stepping on campus, Phe immediately realizes that there’s something different about this place—an unexplained epidemic that decimated the town in the 1700s, an ancient and creepy cemetery, and gorgeous boy Zach—and somehow she’s connected to it all.

But the more questions she asks and the deeper she digs, the more entangled Phe becomes in the haunting past of Shadow Hills. Finding what links her to this town…might cost her her life.

I have been waiting and waiting to read this book since I first met Anatasia Hopcus after she entered one of our blog giveaways and I found out she is Team Edward. Later she sent us the first chapter and after I read it I was hooked! So when it came in my mailbox this week as part of the ARC tour I was ecstatic!!! I must say it is a book that will keep you captivated from start to finish. Phe lives an ordinary High School life until she starts having mysterious dreams after the death of her sister. Why is she having visions of a graveyard and a boy she’s never met at the same time every night? And who is he?

After enrolling at a prestigious school in Shadow Hills she realizes all is not what it seems. She is drawn by an unseen pull to a boy names Zach and together they unravel the secrets hidden for centuries. You’ll find yourself pulled into a whirlwind of mesmerizing characters, magic and chemistry that can’t be denied. Phe is strong and sassy and Zach is the perfect Yin to her Yang. I am sure hoping Anastasia is is hoping on keeping these characters for a sequel because I am dying for more!
Read our previous posts about Anastasia here…
And, I just happened to have a couple of signed Shadow Hills bookmarks and pins laying around for a giveaway!

Steampunk Book Thong Giveaway

Today’s Etsy giveaway is from one of my absolute favorite shops
Happenchance and Odd
“I’m a Mommy. A good day is when I have had enough time to shower and brush my teeth.

I seem like a totally suburban housewife by the light of day. But, after a goodnight song, hug and kiss for my babies I turn into the Steampunk Goddess.

I spend my long insomnia filled nights working on designs, creating, searching Etsy for things I don’t need but must have or I will die.

What is Steampunk? Plain and simple, its old stuff made into something new. There is great beauty in vintage items that can not be found in the mass produced items in chain stores. Why adorn yourself with something hundreds of others have? It seems to me an easier, less painful self expression than a tattoo but with the same effect. Wearing a piece of Steampunk jewelry explains exactly who you are without having to say a word.

Waiting on Wednesday "Mistwood"

14 Apr, 2010 by in Mistwood, waiting on 2 comments

To be published April 27th 2010 by Greenwillow Books/HarperCollins

Goodreads Synopsis…The Shifter is an immortal creature bound by an ancient spell to protect the kings of Samorna. When the realm is peaceful, she retreats to the Mistwod.

But when she is needed she always comes.

Isabel remembers nothing. Nothing before the prince rode into her forest to take her back to the castle. Nothing about who she is supposed to be, or the powers she is supposed to have.

Prince Rokan needs Isabel to be his Shifter. He needs her ability to shift to animal form, to wind, to mist. He needs her lethal speed and superhuman strength. And he needs her loyalty–because without it, she may be his greatest threat.

Isabel knows that her prince is lying to her, but she can’t help wanting to protect him from the dangers and intrigues of the court . . . until a deadly truth shatters the bond between them.

Now Isabel faces a choice that threatens her loyalty, her heart . . . and everything she thought she knew.

Shadow of the Sun by Laura Kreitzer

13 Apr, 2010 by in book review, paranormal, Shadow of the Sun 34 comments

published February 22nd 2010 by iUniverse
details Hardcover, 524 pages
characters Andrew, Gabriella Moretti, Joseph Carter
isbn 1450211758
5 Stars

Synopsis from Godreads: Gabriella’s past is a mystery, but that never stopped her from achieving her goals. As a supernatural specialist, and far more intelligent than anyone her age, she has always been ignored by her peers. Because of the isolation she has always felt, she put her life and soul into her job. Being a supernatural specialist hasn’t given her the divine intervention she always longed for, until one day a shipment arrives from Italy containing three dead bodies with an uncanny ability to regenerate. Gabriella is frightened and intrigued, but not as scared as she becomes when a dark creature attacks her.

As the bodies come back to life, the plot takes an unexpected twist that you won’t see coming. The supernatural world only begins to unfold before her as angels appear, her dreams start to haunt her, and the very past she has forgotten comes back with startling clarity. Romance blooms, escape plans are made, an assassin is out to kill her, and death is only around the corner. But what is more terrifying than all of it is the fact she is the chosen one, the Illuminator, the one who will save them all.

One of our very first fans, Brianne Villano sent us an author signed this book as she is the editor. Bri is an awesome social networker who posted our videos on YouTube and kept our Twi Touring group company at TwiTour New Jersey, but best of all she introduced me to this phenomenal series!
I savored the story and the characters whom I feel like I connected with on many levels. The main hero, Andrew is an angel as well as perfect! He comforts and supports Gabriella while being a perfect gentleman. I can honestly say I am going through withdrawals since I finished the book. Can’t wait for book two to be released so I can have more of Andrew, Gabriella and Joseph, the other swoonworthy male protagonist who is also an FBI agent. Laura creates an emotionally riveting mystery full of myth , magic and romance. I gave it five stars and would recommend it to all of my adult friends!
Book two can’t come fast enough and Laura has promised us a teaser to post later on our blog. In the meantime she is giving away a signed copy of Book One of the Timeless series, Shadow of the Sun to one of our readers!
