Ladies of London’s High Society are known for their social graces and poise. Vivian Kirby boasts neither of these enviable qualities, though she does offer impressive conversation on chemical compositions. Unfortunately, it appears that not many men want a brilliant wife. So it is that Vivian finds kinship with a group of young women who embrace each other’s differences: The Blue Orchid Society.
After an extended stay in China, Lord Benedict has returned transformed to his family’s estate, where an encounter with Vivian, whose scientific knowledge he once undermined, leaves him determined to make amends. He arranges to help forward her research—anonymously, of course. Through letters, Vivian establishes a warm friendship with her secret benefactor, even as she’s unexpectedly drawn into a murder investigation that forces her to work alongside Benedict to unearth the truth. Soon, Vivian fears she may be falling in love with two men, never suspecting that they are one and the same.
Lady Sophronia Bremerton is a far cry from the typical debutante, but she’s the toast of London’s upper class for one simple reason: she’s a society columnist for the London Illustrated News, and the gentry loves seeing their exploits printed in the gossip pages. But Sophie has bigger plans – she aspires to be an investigative reporter. When a stuffy ballroom at yet another Season proves to be nothing more than the usual rumor mill, Sophie seeks respite in the library alongside four other young women who, for their own reasons, are also looking for escape. As the conversation turns to their secret ambitions, the women form a sisterhood and a bold plan: they will make their dreams a reality, no matter the obstacles. Thus begins the Blue Orchid Society.
Hearing of a murder in a London rookery, Sophie seizes the opportunity to prove her skills. Detective Jonathan Graham doesn’t believe a civilian, a noblewoman at that, should be anywhere near a murder investigation, but Sophie insists on helping bring the killer to justice. Her investigative prowess doesn’t go unnoticed by the police, especially Jonathan, who can’t decide whether this intrepid reporter is a thorn in his side or the woman of his dreams. But as the case grows more complicated and dangerous, their very lives – and their hearts – may be at risk.
Jennifer Moore is a passionate reader and writer of all things romance due to the need to balance the rest of her world that includes a perpetually traveling husband and four active sons, who create heaps of laundry that are anything but romantic. She suffers from an acute addiction to 18th and 19th century military history and literature. Jennifer has a B.A. in Linguistics from the University of Utah and is a Guitar Hero champion. She lives in northern Utah with her family, but most of the time wishes she was on board a frigate during the Age of Sail.
Jennifer Moore has long been one of my go to authors for hsitorical fiction. In Inventing Vivian she paints a rich female character who is a tinker. Vivian lives in high society London, but often finds herself in awkward pauses during conversations as she relates her scientific observations and knowledge. Male suitors aren’t quite sure what to make of her penchant for the physics and mechanics of all she takes in around her. Benedict is just returning from a hiatus to China, where he learns to reprogram his mind from the opulant and self- centered way he was raised. Through meditation and feng shui, he re-enters London after the death of his older brother to take the helm of his family’s nobility. He is sad to be back, much like a fish out of water. The two meet up again in a haphazard self-propelled vehicle mishap in Benedict’s garden, then have a chance to make amends for a once rocky past.
Moore pushes back on the set roles for her characters both in gender stereotypes and business models. She takes on the inhumane conditions of child labor in factories and corruption among the elite. There’s even a das of action and mystery when a murder takes place in the Chinese K district. I loved Vivian’s vivid imagination and all of her contraptions & inventions. Told from two points of view, with interspersed letters between Benedict and Vivian, we get an insider look at how both change during the course of the novel. Highly recommend for fans of cozy mystery and clean historical romance. Thanks to Covenant Communications for the copy as a part of the official tour!
Needing time to heal after a rodeo injury, Kate Rainbolt heads to her family ranch to accept the foreman job her brothers offered her months ago. Kate has sustained a serious injury as a rodeo clown and is at her family ranch looking to take over the care of the horses. Unfortunately, someone has beat her to the punch, and it’ s none other than her old boyfriend and fiancé. Their interactions are painfully awkward, since he has taken over the position she wanted and is essentially her boss. Will she be able to recover enough to retune to the rodeo circuit, or will she be stuck pushing papers at a desk position enduring the discomfort of coming face to face of a past she walked away from?
I enjoyed the family dynamics and protectiveness the Rainbolt brothers show toward their sister. They have been forced t young age to take over for a walk away father, but do a great job of keeping Kate safe and healthy. They also allowed her the freedom to pursue her dreams in the past, however dangerous they were. The author has also written characters who turn to the Lord in prayer when troubles mount and it was nice to see that written directly into the plot. Addressing, possible TBI, parental neglect and kidney failure, there is a lot going on, but hope is there throughout because of turning their wills over to prayer. If you are a fan of cowboys, ranch hands and good family values, this one is for you! I am happy its a series, so I can explore more of what Tina Radcliffe has written. I look forward to more from the Love Inspired imprint by Harlequin, thanks for the review copy! Cowgirl’s sacrifice was an uplifting family values read with clean content and a tight knit family circle.
David
Anderson is a mild-mannered English professor until he walks into the classroom
one day and discovers the corpse of one of his colleagues. She has been
murdered. With all eyes on him, another woman, this time a former student of
his, is also found murdered. In both cases, the killer has done the same thing:
taken photos of the body and posted them anonymously online. Because of this,
the media has dubbed him the Voyeur Killer. When it happens a third time,
Detective Grimm, the cold and ruthless woman leading the investigation, narrows
her sights on the English professor and begins to close in. Yet David, who has
exhausted himself convincing others that he isn’t guilty, begins to question
his own sanity. Is he the one committing these murders? Has he been doing it
without his own knowledge? Desperate to clear his own name and discover what is
happening, he begins to unravel the secrets of a twisted and depraved mind. The
only question: is it his own?

love James Patterson, you will love this!!I am an avid mystery reader. This was
definitely a page turner. I judge a mystery on how quickly I can figure out
“who dunnit”. I didn’t see the ending coming. If you love James
Patterson, it is reminiscent of his style yet the author definitely has carved
out his own niche. Great Read!!” Amazon Review
“This
story is very compelling and David is a character that cared about, could
relate to in his ordinary-ness. I like to read books like this that keep me
glued to the page, wanting the best for the character but having this niggling
worry he’s not all he seems to be. The evil narrator filled me with such dread,
pure evil with hope of redemption, a human horror story.” Amazon Review

Honestly, this isn’t really my genre. It is just not the type of book that I

And so when the woman descends the stairs, I will put on my face. The face she likes. The face she knows. But the world will soon see that she is the first bit of fuse that I will light. The first domino that I will knock over.
Because I’ve learned to master this art. I’ve done it for years, so much so that I wonder if the other half of me even knows about this. I have fooled even myself, because when I slip out of this self—like a snake shedding dry scales—I will refuse to admit this to myself.
She sees me and walks toward me.
I see that sexy smile, so I smile back.
She shakes my hand, a courteous hello, and her fingers are strangely cold.
-Highly Anticipated Sequel to ONCE I WAS A BEEHIVE opens exclusively in theatres on July 21-
SALT LAKE CITY – Advance tickets are now on sale for ONCE I WAS ENGAGED – the eagerly awaited sequel to the award-winning, smash hit ONCE I WAS A BEEHIVE– the film opens exclusively in Utah theatres on Friday, July 21 before expanding to Arizona, Idaho, and Nevada on August 6 and nationally on August 13. Written and directed by Maclain Nelson, ONCE I WAS ENGAGED brings back all the original film’s favorite cast of characters, including Bree (Clare Niederpruem), Holly (Hailey Smith), Lane (Paris Warner), and of course, Carrie Carrington (Lisa Valentine Clark). And this film introduces a couple key new characters, including Curt Carrington; Carrie’s husband and Bree’s father, played by High School Musical’s Bart Johnson; and Thys Chesterfield, played by Studio C’s Tanner Gillman.
“Fans have been screaming for a sequel ever since we released the first film,” exclaimed Nelson. “And we are beyond excited for everyone to get back to the movie theatre and experience the next chapter in the lives of their favorite campers.”
The story takes place about two years after ONCE I WAS A BEEHIVE. The young women and their leaders have grown up (some more than others), and Bree’s surprise engagement and the whirlwind of wedding planning brings them all back together – with hilarious and touching results.
“This movie is the warmest and funniest thing you’ll see this year,” quipped Lisa Valentine Clark. “Not to mention audiences get to see some men in the mix this time. We added the one-and-only Bart Johnson and the charming and hilarious Tanner Gillman. I’m not going to say they steal the show, but I’m not going to not say that either. You’ll just have to come see for yourself.”
Even though the story is a sequel to the first film, audiences will also get to see the original girls as their much younger selves for the first time. “I won’t give away too much, but old and new fans alike get to learn so much more history of the girls,” explained Clare Niederpruem, who plays Bree. “Audiences will absolutely adore them, and who knows, maybe there’s a prequel story to BEEHIVE that needs to be told.”
In the years since ONCE I WAS A BEEHIVE was released, many cast members have been busy in the entertainment industry, especially Clare Niederpruem. ENGAGED signals her first return to being in front of the camera in quite a few years. “We’re so excited to celebrate at the premiere and mingle with the fans. We want this to be the party of the summer,” said Niederpruem who has become a sought-after director for feature films, TV movies and TV series, including an adaptation of LITTLE WOMEN and multiple TV movies for the Hallmark Channel.

Jennifer Faye has created a close knit community based on service. Bluestar Island is exactly where you would want to live! Love Blooms centers around the atmosphere and people who call it home. One of the islanders, Hannah Bell, has invested her life savings and inheritance on remodeling and opening her own bakery. When disaster strikes, she’s at risk of losing it all. Enter firefighter Ethan Walker, who is helping his great aunt recuperate after a fall. The two work together to bring Hannah’s dream into reality. Both battling scars left by the life of a firefighter–loss, emotional and physical wounds that need healing. I liked seeing how the two had to put aside some pride and learn to compromise. I would love to see more character development around the side characters and family members. I feel like we know Aunt Birdie well, but the others feel a bit like pencil sketches with details left to fill in.
Love Blooms will help you understand that sometimes, life throws curve balls. You can build something new! Thanks so much to the author for the complimentary copy for the book tour. A clean read with delightful islanders in the perfect setting!
#1 New York Times bestselling author
of Everything, Everything and The Sun is Also a Star Nicola
Yoon is back with her eagerly anticipated third novel. With all the heart and
hope of her last two books, this is an utterly unique romance.
Evie Thomas doesn’t believe in love anymore. Especially after the strangest
thing occurs one otherwise ordinary afternoon: She witnesses a couple kiss and
is overcome with a vision of how their romance began . . . and how it will end.
After all, even the greatest love stories end with a broken heart, eventually.
As Evie tries to understand why this is happening, she finds herself at La Brea
Dance studio, learning to waltz, fox-trot, and tango with a boy named X. X is
everything that Evie is not: adventurous, passionate, daring. His philosophy is
to say yes to everything–including entering a ballroom dance competition with
a girl he’s only just met.
Falling for X is definitely not what Evie had in mind. If her visions of
heartbreak have taught her anything, it’s that no one escapes love unscathed.
But as she and X dance around and toward each other, Evie is forced to question
all she thought she knew about life and love. In the end, is love worth the
risk?

REVIEW: Ugh, no, was not expecting that ending! Cute, fun book took a turn about halfway through with some sad twists and turns. Evie is an avid reader, expecially of romantic comedies. When her parents divorce, she deposits some of her book to a newighborhood little free library. What she gets in return is sight. She has turned cynical about love, until she steps into a local dance studio and meets X. There was so much to adore about both characters and their banter. The dance studio staff are colorful and unique. So, I was a bit disappointed when the dancing storyline dropped off and then picked back up with a short resolution. I was hoping to see more of these two dancing together! So much going for them. I read the whole book in two days and will say, without spoilers, to prepare yourself for some ups and downs. There is so much to sift through in both Evie and X’s relationships with their fathers. I truly enjoyed that they made each other smile. I loved the cover and the premise as well as the cutural elements. Thanks to Delacorte Press for the copy as part of the official tour! Content and trigger warnings: extramarital affair, LGBTQ relationship, “F” word, mention of sex, underage drinking, loss.

Beth Carpenter is thankful for good books, a good dog, a good man and a dream job creating happily-ever-afters. She and her husband now split their time between Alaska and Arizona, where she occasionally encounters a moose in the yard or a scorpion in the basement. She prefers the moose.
One winner will receive a $25 Amazon gift card and Alaskan Dreams, An Alaskan Proposal and Sweet Home Alaska (paperbacks if winner is in the US, ebooks otherwise)
Alaskan Homecoming is the 8th book in the Northern Light series, but the first one I have read. It can be read as a standalone without any problems at all. Rowan is visiting Alaska from Japan to help her grandma recover and to drive her to PT appointments. She happens to re-connect with her teen crush, Zack who has his hands full with a wildlife recovery effort and a custody battle for his sister. Throw in a thriving goat farm and cheese business, a side plot of a fundraiser and cooking competition, and you have rich descriptions to keep the pace rolling. I enjoyed the Alaskan setting, but had a bit of trouble with suspension of disbelief with how much our main character travels between Alaska, Japan, California and Las Vegas. At one point, she is worried with the prices of airfaire, after she has already jet setted all over in a short amount of time. That’s the only little plot disconnect I saw.
Rowan is in the process of learning to say no and live her own life. Her mother is a piece of work! The author writes some believable and deeply layered characters. There are also goats…love them! Harlequin Heartwarming series has once again delivered a clean read. Thanks to the author and publisher for the copy as part of the tour. If you are fan of Moose, goats, cheese, cooking or need a getaway to a remote locale, this is the book for you. A marriage of convenience with a sweet ending.

It’s a family owned business–brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, all work there in various capacities.
Paula is happy in her back office accounting position. But changes are in store when her grandfather promotes her and fires her cousin–who then blames Paula.
Meanwhile, a blond romantic comedy superstar is hiding out at The Hotel for a few months. She meets Paula’s brother, a chef–who has no idea who she is–and she likes it that way.
Paula’s grandfather also hires a consultant to help her settle into her new role. But she isn’t sure what to think of David, who grew up on Nantucket but now lives in Manhattan.
He’s a brilliant consultant and will be assessing Paula’s suitability for the role. He’s also home for another reason, a difficult family issue that makes Manhattan seem very far away.

Tucked away on Nantucket is the Whitley, a family owned luxury hotel with several generations living and working together. Management has shifted between cousins, and each family member plays a role in making the business and local getaway a magical summer hideout. Told from multiple perspectives, there are several storylines to follow. Paula, a quiet accountant type, who has just been promoted to fill a position she feels a bit uncomfortable with, much to the chagrin of her jealous and competitive cousin who has just lost the post. Paula’s brother, a chef, who loved fishing and laying low near his cottage has crossed paths with an actress who is taking her recovery time on the Island. Hiding out in plain sight with a new haircut and time away from the big screen, the famous superstar finds a slower way of life and the pace she needs for the time being.
The author fills the pages of the Hotel with rich descriptions of the way of life, food, accommodations and every day lives of each character. It is an atmospheric novel, a glimpse into several differing personalities and perspectives. I enjoyed the leisurely meandering pace and getaway feel. The Hotel would be a perfect travel or beach read. Thanks so much to the author and publisher for providing a free copy for the official book tour. Enjoy a bit of time away on Nantucket!
