Jennifer Faye has created a close knit community based on service. Bluestar Island is exactly where you would want to live! Love Blooms centers around the atmosphere and people who call it home. One of the islanders, Hannah Bell, has invested her life savings and inheritance on remodeling and opening her own bakery. When disaster strikes, she’s at risk of losing it all. Enter firefighter Ethan Walker, who is helping his great aunt recuperate after a fall. The two work together to bring Hannah’s dream into reality. Both battling scars left by the life of a firefighter–loss, emotional and physical wounds that need healing. I liked seeing how the two had to put aside some pride and learn to compromise. I would love to see more character development around the side characters and family members. I feel like we know Aunt Birdie well, but the others feel a bit like pencil sketches with details left to fill in.
