I’ll be spending this week looking at my year in books. So far in 2013, I’ve read 144 books and have had 31 DNFs. What I love about book blogging and reviewing is that we each have our own individual taste. The longer I blog, the more I realize I don’t have to impress anyone. I am more apt to put down books than I used to be simply because my reading time  is limited and precious. Plus, there are so many on my TBR list. I can choose to be picky and feel I give every book a fair chance, but some are just not for me.

I don’t finish books for several reasons ( see them all HERE) but these were my top five reasons…

  1. Content
  2. Sequels I couldn’t complete
  3. Annoying  voice or too much profanity in audio
  4. Too slowly paced
  5. Poorly written or edited

Here’s my master Did Not Finish list.

Christmas Kisses by Verna Clay
The Clockwork Cathedral: The Time Corps Chronicles, Book 1 by Heather Blackwood
The Rosie Project: A Novel by Graeme Simsion

Wow! That’s a lot of books. I only had one DNF this year. It was Losing Virginity by Ava Michaels. The MC couldn’t really decide if she was interested in losing her virginity or not and I couldn’t take one more internal speech about why she shouldn’t care one way or the other. Yes we had the speeches on both sides. 🙁

I am surprised you DNF Wait For You – but, if it was content based then I totally understand that issue. I also struggled with the Diviners – I have tried twice now to read that one and I am just not getting into it.
