They call me the Night Queen, with a heart as dark as the night itself. And as such, I will rule my future kingdom. No light shall ever touch my broken heart again.
On her twentieth birthday, the beautiful but arrogant Princess Mina von Rhine crosses the point of no return. Unwilling to be married off to a warmongering Northerner, she defies her father, the powerful King of the Rhine, and ridicules all her potential suitors.
Furious at her appalling behavior, her father vows to give Mina’s hand in marriage to the first unmarried man who walks through the palace gates—be it nobleman or beggar. And when an impoverished Northern soldier arrives at the castle the following day, the king stands by his word and offers Mina to him.
This ill-suggested match, however, might prove of use to Mina after all. The Northern soldier doesn’t seem too fond of the marriage himself, so Mina offers the handsome but insufferable warrior enormous riches if he helps her escape into the North.
But the dangerous journey through war-torn lands forces the princess to realize that if she can’t melt her frozen heart, marriage might be the least of her concerns.
From the author : This is a beautiful, dark, and romantic re-imagining of the long-forgotten German fairy tale ‘King Thrushbeard’ (first published by the beloved Brothers Grimm whose works include such classics as Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and Rapunzel). If you’d love to read an adult version of a compelling old fairy tale and enjoy enemies to lovers romances with sizzling passion, then this book is a must-read for you.

Reviews:
“The
book strikes a wealthy mixed vein of sophisticated psychological chills and
monstrous horror.”― Publishers Weekly
“Gritty historical drama meets supernatural horror in this sumptuously
drawn tale set during the Yukon Gold Rush.” ― PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
“The Rush is a chilling bit of historical horror.
Rugged and raw and thoroughly researched. It’s got such a wonderfully creepy
sense of menace but most of all it’s the moving story of a mother searching for
her child, that’s its beating heart. Wonderful work.” — Victor
Lavalle (best-selling and award-winning author of he anthology, Slapboxing
with Jesus and four novels, The Ecstatic, Big Machine, The
Devil in Silver, and The Changeling, the fantasy-horror novella The
Ballad of Black Tom, and the comics series Destroyer and Eve)
“The Rush is a splendidly savage tale of frontier scum
and the doom they’ve brought down upon themselves, and the innocents cursed to
suffer alongside them. I for one can’t wait to see more.” — Garth
Ennis (best-selling and award-winning writer, Preacher, and
writer/co-creator of The Boys)
About Si Spurrier:
His work in the latter field stretches from award winning
creator-owned books such as Numbercruncher, Six-Gun
Gorilla and The Spire to projects in the

Dreaming, and X-Men. It all began with a series
of twist-in-the-tail stories for the UK’s beloved 2000AD, which
ignited an enduring love for genre fiction. His latest book, Coda,
is being published by Boom! Studios at present.
His prose
works range from the beatnik neurosis-noir of Contract to
the occult whodunnit A Serpent Uncoiled via

“He
used to say, ‘a broken heart breaks all around it. Heal you, heal the
world.'”
There once were two children,
a girl and a boy.
One could create,
the other, destroy.
Within every heart lies the power to bond or break.
On an isolated port of floating garbage called Hop, Gaiel Izz and his sister,
Lynd, never imagined they’d be able to change anything…
Not their nasty neighbors, not their hungry bellies, and especially not their
missing father.
That will change when they discover the power of myracles —
magic that either creates or destroys.
As the brother and sister set across Esa to bring their family back together,
this power will either unite them or shatter their entire world to pieces.
It will all come down to what truly lies within their hearts…
The Blue Bloods are
back…more fanged and fabulous than ever.
After defeating Lucifer and sacrificing the love of her life, Jack, Schuyler
wakes up back in New York safe and sound. Only it’s not quite the New York she
knows, and she’s not in her regular body. She looks different and feels
different and so does everyone else. Schuyler soon discovers that in this
world, her best friend has a different last name, her parents are both alive
and well and one of them is an entirely different person, and the love of her
life? Not so dead after all. The catch? Jack has no idea who she is.
As it turns out, Schuyler is not in her New York. She’s not even in her
universe. This is an alternate reality. One where Lucifer is alive and well and
acting as mayor of New York, Blue Bloods are luring humans to clinics to drain
their blood, and Jack is Lucifer’s right hand man. Just when she thinks all is
lost, Schuyler is contacted by a familiar friend―the Silver Blood, Kingsley.
The Kingsley from her world. He actually remembers the Schuyler she used to be!
But he also has a theory, and it’s one she doesn’t like. That Schuyler was sent
here to defeat Lucifer. Again. And that she’s the only person in this universe
or any universe that can defeat him.

About Melissa:
Melissa de la Cruz is the author of
the #1 New York Times best-selling Descendants series, as well as many other
best-selling novels, including Alex & Eliza and all the
books in the Blue Bloods series: Blue Bloods, Masquerade, Revelations, After
Life, The Van Alen Legacy, Keys to the Repository, Misguided
Angel, Bloody Valentine, Lost in Time, and Gates of Paradise.
She lives in Los Angeles, California, with her husband and daughter.
I had forgotten how much I love Melissa de la Cruz’s series! It’s been a while since I’ve revisited her world, but oh what a ride! There’s so much to enjoy, even after all of these years. Schuyler wakes up in a completely different year, with a new name, a new mother and her old memories are co-exisiting in her mind. A parallel existence. Oliver is the same lovable librarian and familiar, but Jack…he has no idea who she is. Readers get a chance to see the two meet all over again. The only chance Jack has is if Schuyler’s light can outshine his darkness and overcome the forces seeking power and dominance in another time and place.
De la Cruz is brilliant with her mixture of paranormal elements, Hollywood culture and the evils of politics. There is a pandemic of global proportions going, which readers will relate to since we just exited one. Told form two points of view, we get insight to both Schuyler and Max’s minds as a well as a small third glimpse at Oliver’s mindset at the end. Action packed, rich with character. I am so happy to see the series continuing on! Thanks so much to Disney Hyperion and Rockstar tours for the complimentary copy for review. If you’ve never read the Blue Bloods books, it’s time to pick them up!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “I’m no stranger to
retellings of fairytales so my expectations were high. The story is beautifully
written with a fresh and modern take on the characters, whilst retaining the
true essence of the story.” Goodreads Reviewer
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “A delightful mix of finding love in the modern
world, with a bit of Fairytale magic mixed in. I thought the novel was
beautifully written. There really weren’t any plot holes that led to confusion.
The elements of a Cinderella retelling were masterfully placed, but not necessarily
made the center of the story.” Goodreads Reviewer
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “What a great read! Everything about this book made me
want to keep reading! From the great characters, great story line and a
Cinderella twist!” NetGalley Reviewer

About Sam Beck:
Sam Beck is a writer and illustrator living in Toronto. She likes to explore
themes of identity and relationships through the lens of fantasy. Sam has done
work with Dark Horse, Vault Comics, and BOOM! Studios. When she’s not drawing,
find her admiring the forests of northern Ontario or playing the ocarina and
guitar.
Jett Hart, a 16-year-old girl from
New Jersey, refuses to accept the diagnosis that her mother is brain-dead. Yes,
Mom’s long-comatose body seems like an empty shell. But there was that
split-second, weird time Jett swears she lifted out from her own body and
travelled to an indigo-colored, starry space, where she felt Mom’s presence.
Now, as Jett’s caretaking Aunt threatens to pull Mom’s life support, Jett must
find this mysterious indigo place again and return her mother to her body
before it’s too late. The bad news is that only her schoolmate Farold — who
may or may not give off a more-than-friends vibe — believes she can do this.
The good news is that he’s an amateur quantum physicist in training and has
some ideas about how to help Jett get back “up there.”
Even if Jett manages to find Mom in the “indigo,” can she bring her
back to her body? While also staying connected to her own “empty shell” below?
And, what if . . . someone is trying to stop her?
A teen thriller offering astral projection cosmology, life cords, parallel
universes, and wormholes, THE INDIGO is a wild trip through one person’s
consciousness “above,” her interconnected reality “below,”
and the psychological and potentially fatal dangers of being disconnected from
both.
Reviews:
“Out of
this world! A fast-paced magical trip across the stars, Jett and Farold will
whisk you away to The Indigo in search of answers and leave you gasping for air
time and time again. Siegel creates a world you both fear and long for. A must
read for fans of Flatliners and Stranger Things. – Rajdeep
Paulus, award-winning author of the SWIMMING THROUGH CLOUDS TRILOGY
“The thing with The Indigo is the writing. It’s subtle, sweet and doesn’t
skirt around the subjects of grief and loss. It’s not afraid to talk about a
struggling family, emotionally, financially, and with each other’s
relationships. What Siegel has created here is a beautiful book, filled with
believable and relatable characters who have real feelings…. Siegel has
written a triumph.”- Sally Altass,REEDSY
“Wow! It has been a while since I have enjoyed a book as much as I
relished The Indigo. The concepts are wonderfully fresh and unique and Heather
Siegel is a remarkable writer. If you swap dreams for astral projection and
throw in a tad of fantasy and a bit more drama, then this book would be like
the movie Inception, but for young adults. It is an amazing book and well
written. I think it could be made into a phenomenal film or even a series of
films. I was blown away and reading it has converted me into a huge fan. There
are a lot more enthralling elements in the plot that I can’t give away. This is
an author to look out for.”– Michaela Gordoni, READERS’ FAVORITE
“A fascinating story involving portals, quantum physics, multiverses, and
astral projection, The Indigo is bound to entice fans of the paranormal genre.
Author Heather Siegel tells a moving tale about a tenacious teenager who
refuses to let go of her mother and gives her all to bring her mother back to
life. The plot takes unexpected twists and turns that you never see coming.
Jett is a likable protagonist you find easy to root for. Her devotion to her
mother is not only admirable but also very relatable. I especially enjoyed her
burgeoning romance with Farold, and it was one of my favorite aspects of the
book. Recommended to young adult readers who love fantasy or paranormal
stories.”– Pikasho Deka, READERS’ FAVORITE
